Some recent word press upgrade(update) freezes or stops when doing automatic upgrade. I just found a temporary solution to it and wanted to share with every one.
Looks like the problem is with installed plugin. I will try to pin point which plugin is doing the problem in few days but till then the solution below will solve your problem.
Navigate to Admin Console
Now navigate to Plugins –> Installed
Select all your activated Plugins and from bulk action drop down deactivate all of them.
Now try running the update again and this time it will work.
Now activate all your plugins again. :-)
